It sounds like your anti-virus is overprotective and deleting the file. The solution would be to temporarily disable it, but you’d have to be careful of what files you download if you do that.
If you are using Windows, it’s worth checking if Windows Defender is behaving in a similar way. Although I’m sure you would get a notification that a file was deleted.
