Make sure you enter a name or Click the Random button to randomly generate a name before clicking OK button.

When playing in windowed mode (on my Windows laptop) the menu isn't in the box. Additionally, when creating a new character, the options were similarly misaligned, I couldn't change the hair type, and there were no buttons for picking a name or moving forward.
Changing to fullscreen resolved most of the issues. However, I couldn't enter a name. I was able to move forward with the game, however so maybe I just couldn't see the name being entered.
Previous versions were great, but people might get turned off too early if the character creation part is bugged. Good luck though! I'm excited to see where this goes!
