It's a shame that people starts the Luddite paranoia about what new technologies were used.
A game either has great gameplay or it doesn't, it has cool hentai or it doesn't - what technology the creator used doesn't matter at all...
Buddy, let's use ours brains here:
imagine you buy a product that it is advertised to be handmade, built with care, and when you get it, it's actually just another industrialized slop that you can find millions of other copies in the internet. That's what we call a scam.
Nowhere says it is made using AI, not even on their patreon. Here on Itch.io says "no gen AI was used", yet they clearly used AI for the art, the story and maybe even the code.
My previous comment was deleted because of their pettiness, but I will repeat because I mean it:
My problem is not that it uses AI, my problem is that I can find this game in the middle of actual human made projects. That's scummy behavior and should be called out.
By that logic, let's also ditch factory-made brand clothing since that's industrial slop too... let's just shear sheep and sew handmade clothes ourselves.
What's the point of saying "this is non-marked AI slop" when it often looks way better than a lot of human-made slop, my friend?
It's a shame ppl don't realize that even with AI, making a game and polishing the gameplay/arts/animations/sounds still requires a huge amount of that very same handmade human labor. New technology just simplifies the process, allowing creators to produce more content - nothing more.
Get this shitty ass strawman fallacy out of here. I explained it clearly what I meant, while still being respectful, yet you decided to double down.
NO, WRITING A PROMPT DOES NOT TAKE THE SAME EFFORT.
Drawing takes several years, even decades to learn and master.
Writing takes several years, even decades to learn and master.
Coding takes several years, even decades to learn and master.
Writing a prompt to make a AI do it for you did not took several years, nor even a single year to learn and master it.
And to answer you question: No, it isn't. Yes, there sure is a lot of human made slop out there, everywhere. But you know the difference between this and AI-slop? Humans comes from a place of effort of trying to create something of value; it might still be slop, but it can be the base for future improvement and the creation of something actually good.
But with AI, this do not happen. AI will always regurgitate the same thing, maybe with a different facade, but always the same thing. The same way of writing, the same way of animating, creating characters, building codes, the same soulless way of building things. The only way of improving is for the dev to do things themselves.
I'm anti-AI, but again I will say this: I want this dev to just have the balls to assume that they used AI and move on. And they can do it willingly, or be forced in the future. It would off course be better if they just remade the game themselves, but as you can probably see I'm trying really hard to establish a conversation here so we can do it the better way.
