The free version here is actually the original version from 2015. If you buy you get a key for the expanded steam version, with online multiplayer, etc. 

The online features use steam lobbies, which is why we didn't release an updated DRM free version here.

I'm sorry to hear that.

If ever you manage to decouple the paid enhancements you've made from the Steam lobby, I'd love to purchase the enhanced version here or on GOG.

In the interim, I'll just download the original free version I guess. In the current state of things, it is the superior version for me.
