The old one had some issues with stability, like the loco brake pressure oscillating constantly without settling to the requested value, or the vacuum brake in long trains releasing in bursts, resulting in a "coughing" sound. This new system resolves both of those issues and I added the reservoir side modelling while at it. I've also been reworking the mechanical side but that has turned out to be more difficult.

That makes sense. A brake that never settles on the requested pressure would drive any driver crazy, and the coughing release on long trains is such a specific thing to notice and fix. Respect for taking on the mechanical side too, even if it's turning out harder. Sims like this live on that kind of detail.
Out of curiosity, where have train sim fans been finding the game so far, mostly itch, or also places like YouTube and Reddit?
