Incontinent Cell or how they put a plutocracy on a game ;

You’ve become “money-greedy.” I’ve never understood the idea of giving extra weight to votes - plutocracy - or even setting up a limit to cheats that where here in the first fucking place.

On top of that, ever since you removed the debug buttons for people who can’t (or don’t want to—that’s another issue) afford to support you, it’s been terrible. Not to mention that you’re clearly trying to make a buck off this.

Of course, i’m talking for the debug menu indeed, not the “free money cheeto” who cares bruh there is the stonks and the gameplay is easy. Just having perfect colors for perfect clothes or testing the game with the debug menu limits is just more fun. In my eyes at least.

Yes, development is expensive and takes time… I damn do understand, trust me, try to run a FiveM server. So indeed charge for the game? I’d rather pay a solid €9.99 once for the game, have an equal say in future features AS ANYONE ELSE, than have to pay a subscription every damn month and realize that my vote counts for 1 while my rich neighbor’s vote counts for 25,700x a vote.

I’m very unhappy with that game state and update, and I am still looking for a downgradable official or at least non risky download.

The game is free. Calling devs of a free game greedy is just beyond laughable. Which other game gives you a way to give yourself all the items available? All the money? Resetting a story line? Probably not many. People make 3rd party tools for that purpose and we never disallowed those on our discord unless someone tries to bypass security on our own cheats. All the backlash we get is because we were too nice and people grew too accustomed to being spoonfed. You even have a problem with polls (that became a very minor thing for small details)? Please explain to us what kind of monetization is ok with you. Do you think we wouldn't want to be on steam? The game would be much more successful on the biggest gaming platform, but the game is banned from it. It's just infuriating reading these comments. The truth is 99% of the people that played our game didn't give us a dime and we are very grateful to the people that contributed, but I don't see why we should shot ourselves in the foot and make patreon tiers with no benefits. "I’m very unhappy with that game state and update, and I am still looking for a downgradable official or at least non risky download..." even though you call us greedy you still ask for more. Give me, give me, give me... Have some shame.

No hate but I mean that's like 80k a month. Idc but I'm just gonna point it out

(+4)(-23)

No hate, but you are looking at one point in time in a development of a game that took 6 years with a team of 3 people. I'm very sorry that the game got popular and our hard work paid off.

I will answer your comment point by point, at least from my perspective as a player.

The game is free. Calling devs of a free game greedy is just beyond laughable.

The game is free. True. But I never used the fact that the game is free as an argument against you.

Calling the developers greedy is not inherently laughable just because the game is free. I am calling the monetization greedy because features that were freely available for months, if not years, are now locked behind Patreon. That is what I am criticizing.

Which other game gives you a way to give yourself all the items available? All the money?

Yours did. Before this update.

That is precisely my point. I am not asking for something that never existed. I am talking about functionality that was already available to players for free and is now being monetized.

Resetting a story line?

Yes, that one is much less common, I agree. But that’s not really the point I was making.

People make 3rd party tools for that purpose and we never disallowed those on our discord unless someone tries to bypass security on our own cheats.

I actually appreciate that you allow third-party tools.

But that also makes the current situation more frustrating. If the debug menu itself is now locked behind Patreon, I don’t see how an officially allowed third-party tool could reasonably provide the same functionality without effectively bypassing the restriction.

And if it cannot, then a feature that was previously available to everyone has effectively become a paid feature.

You even have a problem with polls (that became a very minor thing for small details)?

Yes, I do, although that’s a separate issue.

My concern is simply the principle of giving paid supporters disproportionately more voting power. If one person can effectively purchase thousands of votes, then it stops being a community poll and becomes a form of plutocracy.

That’s not something I personally like in a community.

Please explain to us what kind of monetization is ok with you.

This is actually very simple.

I have no problem with Patreon benefits. Early access, exclusive cosmetic content, supporter badges, behind-the-scenes content, bonus content, etc. are perfectly reasonable.

My problem is taking functionality that was already available to everyone and turning it into a Patreon-exclusive feature.

And honestly, if I had discovered the game two or three years ago, I probably would have happily paid €10 for it as a normal game. I paid €10 for Among Us back in the day without having a problem with it.

So yes, I would much rather pay €9.99 once for the game than have existing gameplay/debug functionality gradually moved behind a subscription.

The truth is 99% of the people that played our game didn’t give us a dime and we are very grateful to the people that contributed, but I don’t see why we should shoot ourselves in the foot and make Patreon tiers with no benefits.

I don’t think Patreon tiers should have no benefits either.

Again, I don’t have a problem with Patreon benefits.

The problem is specifically when the benefit is something that was already part of the free game.

If the debug/cheat functionality had never existed for free in the first place, I probably wouldn’t have made my original comment.

Even though you call us greedy you still ask for more. Give me, give me, give me… Have some shame.

I think this is where you misunderstood my point.

I’m not asking you to give me a new feature for free. I’m asking for the return of functionality that was already available to players.

And yes, I would still like an official or at least safe way to play an older version. That’s not contradictory.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with preferring the version of a free game that doesn’t put previously free functionality behind a paywall.

I genuinely like the game. That’s precisely why I’m criticizing the direction of this update rather than simply uninstalling it and moving on.

You are absolutely entitled to monetize your work however you want. And I am equally entitled, as a player, to think that a particular monetization decision is greedy or simply bad.

I don’t expect you to agree with me. But I would prefer that you address that argument rather than reducing it to “give me, give me, give me.”

Everything was already explained in the main post, polls were a benefit and people couldn't behave and now cheats are, and cheats are given to every person that contributed, by becoming a patreon OR mods, translations etc. We are not gonna give our patreons less only because some vocal minority is too lazy to make money in the game or too lazy to contribute in any other way to the community. A very long reply and nothing interesting was said, just proving my point that we were too good and good people tend to be exploited and then harassed when they wise up.

(1 edit) (+14)(-2)

As you said, have some shame then.

Not everyone is a modder. Translator maybe. But in my case I don’t mind translating a paywall’d game.

You have a clear superiority complex. "We were too good, you make no sense," as if Clover didn't concisely state everything they disagreed with in a respectful and understandable manner. You're the one not making sense. You are well within your rights to feel exploited and paywall something. Players, similarly, are within their rights to feel slighted and voice their disappointment that yet another game took a previously free feature and paywalled it. Whether your reasoning is solid or not, it's extremely disheartening to players who CAN'T support the game. Not all of us are lazy, some of us don't have the money to spare on a porn game.

I promise you not all of us are coders, and not all of us speak multiple languages. Additionally, if I don't have the money for the game, I'm not going to do work for you for a feature that was previously free. I'm going to work for money to pay for things. You're dumbing down every response you get because you know you overreacted to the responses and now you're too embarrassed to admit you were wrong.

(+1)(-6)

You don't need to know how to code. Everyone can figure it out in like 5 minutes. Mod system that is in the game is super easy and there are plenty of modders that do it on their PHONES, but it's exactly how you said, it could be the easiest thing in the world and you won't do it, because cheats were free in previous versions. We didn't take cheats away, they are no longer available for free in the new version of the game that you get for free and the reason for that was already explained. The core issue doesn't change: some of the players want everything for free: won't even wait 2 weeks meant for patreons only which is being proven time and time again on certain forums and will even go as far as to harass devs when they don't get what they want. Sorry, but we won't back down and surrender to toxic people that call us greedy or tell us we have superiority complex or that we are ruining the game with things that were chosen by patreons. There's a difference between "criticism" and calling people names or even worse: telling us you know better what's good for the game or true to its spirit.
"...you know you overreacted to the responses and now you're too embarrassed to admit you were wrong." xD Where is the overreaction? I never called people that can't support the game lazy, here's the quote "...vocal minority is too lazy to make money in the game or too lazy to contribute in any other way to the community" and I stand by it. We never had a problem with free players, they helped the game grow and we appreciate even that little contribution, but It's a video game, if you want to get all the good stuff without even touching the gameplay, or using all the tutorials how to get money, OR using other types of cheats that people shared on this community page (we aren't deleting those) and you decide to complain instead and call devs greedy, yes, you are probably lazy. Making millions of dollars in the game takes like 15 minutes with a right strategy, getting someone else's save is even quicker, getting other cheats or save editors working is also very quick.
It's interesting that excuses you lot give are always "I don't know how to code... I don't know other languages... I have no money...", but it's never "I'm bad at video games... I can't spare 15 minutes on a porn game... I can't figure out importing saves..." This is such a non-issue it's baffling.

(+3)(-2)

Arguing with you is pointless. You're  so convinced you're right that you won't consider for even a moment how rude you're being. Don't bother responding, you're too stuck in your mindset to consider other possibilities.

(+1)(-1)

"Arguing with you is pointless"

Buddy, you could've earned minimum $5 millions in the game instead of "Arguing" over here, the money ain't even an issue here. Church reset option is the biggest loss we had. And GTFO the auto clicker and use the fkn stonks FFS, or just check some community posts below for save files. Now downvote my shi for helping your lazy assess.

get a job

(This has nothing to do with the paywall nor voting. I don't particularly care about either.) Since Steam is out of the question, would you consider submitting the game to GOG? I would definitely buy it day one even there.
