Aight,

First of all, I don't see any "changelog" in devs recent posts, just the title with a build number higher than the one available for free twice and a "upcoming public release" one 

Second of all, itch serves as a hub for the public free build as it has more reach than subscribestar or any other paid service platform, so there's a higher chance for new players to find this game and play it - besides that, dev included in his itch posts just an info about his progress and that anyone may get the PAID build, after subscribing to him, since this is his only source of income, it's only natural, that  subscribers are first in line to play new version, as this is devs way of saying "thank you for your patronage"
