Beat the game; really awesome. Thanks for making this!

I was impressed by the world build and level design overall; converting an existing 3D game into 2D top style is not easy and you handled that nicely.

Massive respect for making all your own art for the cutscenes and enemies without inserting AI slop. All your art looks to have been created with care and attention and it has it's own great vibe. Awesome work.

I like how you fleshed out some of the more overlooked characters (I won't go into detail to avoid spoilers) but this a great reward for fans of the original seeing some new and original work in something familiar.

Praise mode over, now for some critiques. Most of what I would like to see is easily implemented in future projects, so don't worry too much about what's coming up, heh.

I would like to see more horror elements such as some more moody sound effects and a suitable game font with a creepy looking UI for future projects as I think those would add to the game experience overall.

Would be great if you made your own portraits for the text boxes like you did with the enemies and cutscenes, too.

Speaking of the enemies, although I love them and they look great, they would look much better without the black box around them. You can fix this by making a 1000x700 plain black image and saving the file under the img/battlebacks folder then set that as a background for all your maps or you can simply make the black box transparent in a image editor. (Recommend to do both for best results.)

Some bugs I found:

- If you look at your third picture on the right here -> The chocolate milk one? Do you see how the wall tile above the two cabinets is different from the rest of the wall? You can fix this by HOLDING DOWN the SHIFT KEY as you are placing the cabinets against the wall in the editor to have it look uniform. This is known as 'Shift mapping' and is technique that allows you to place a tile over another tile without it reconfiguring the autotiles on the tiles surrounding it.

- There is no switch after the player searches the dress in the water prison, allowing them to obtain infinite Ampoules and essentially break the game.

- There were more but I didn't log them, those are the ones I remember.

To wrap up - awesome game. Can't wait for you to release 3!

Thanks for the comment! I plan to re-release Silent Hill 4 demake again. Got to fix the infinite Ampoule bug. Anyway, how's the difficulty? If it's too easy, I probably should make it harder.

Also which song played during the credit after you beat the game? (Asking because I want to know which ending you got without any spoiler)

I found the difficulty to be largely on point in all fairness.

The beauty about RPG type games is that you essentially let the player set their own difficulty to a degree. If it's too hard, you can grind until you don't get smashed by everything or too easy and you can just breeze through until the next difficulty spike.

For instance, I completed with Henry Lv28 because I like to grind quite a lot (but not as much as some people). Other folk may want to speedrun the game and beat the final boss with a Lv16 Henry or something.

Oh yeah - I had to look it up but the ending song was 'Cradle of Forest' :)

Did you defeat the three optional ghosts? The special ones that don't appear in random encounters.

I stuck the insta-kill item in CV and got some huge EXP which helped the second character level catch up.

Then I realized I probably wanted to save those items and skipped the others.

For reference, the parts I mainly got stuck on were WP second visit, apts. trying to find the three items.
