Totally understandable and no need to feel glum - you've made 2 games in a short space of time and I am very much looking forward to playing them!

I think in hindsight it may have been more suitable had I run the jam over the weekend (I know everyone is in different time zones) so there would be less chance folks would be having to fit this around their work and so on.

Live and learn I guess but I am glad you had fun and are proud of your accomplishments!

Sweet - I thought it would be too ambiguous but I was right to keep the faith :]

Thanks and glad you liked it!

Congrats on getting the game up - beat the first enemy and was really enjoying the story until this error popped up and stopped my progress:

Failed to load

data/Map024.json

It's a common fault that sometimes happens when deploying the game - some files get sent into the nether-ether. It's so annoying...

For reference, this error happens straight after the scene at the inn, with Kasey being... unwell.

Not sure I've played enough to give you a fair rating yet, so if you get this sorted I'll give it another bash as I am enjoying the story so far! Thanks.

Good humor and personality as ever.

Poor Reid has really been through the mill in your RTP jam games eh? XD

I would like to play, rate and give feedback on your game for the game jam.

Your game page has an access error and I cannot play it. Did you make the game 'Public' when constructing your itch page for the game?

I'll check back later.

Game had a good Alice-in-Wonderland kind of vibe, almost dreamscape in nature. I dig it!

Raurabella is hot too!

The vibes and humor were the driving force of the game and I rated those highly. As far as gameplay goes, there wasn't really too much to do other than what little you were supposed to do so I scored that a little lower.

Overall very groovy game though. Nice work!

Solid game and there's a lot of content and things to explore here.

I am wondering if you used pre-constructed sample maps to build the environments since there is a lot and it is all very detailed?

I don't own MV so I cannot check myself and it's no bad reflection on you if you did since I have used them myself before in some of my MZ games, I am just wondering is all.

Oh and I did encounter a small glitch when exploring the field with the angry bees. I defeated the first two and it said I had defeated '0' so far. The next 2 I defeated was when it started counting as defeated '2' so however many I defeated I was always 2 behind.

Cool! I love RM2K and have been working on short games myself in that engine lately.

The game was very short but I did like the good humor and also the custom art you made for the enemies, it was really well done.

Also good to see another jam game about making breakfast - loved it!

You've got some good ideas going on here. I do like the concept of being transported to different maps in the guise of an NPC retelling a story.

The implementation needs a polish up since I was able to walk on the windows and sometimes the player would appear from behind the campfire animations which looked a bit odd.

I had to ragequit unfortunately in the 'loop' room - the main hall. I think turning off the random encounters would help that and allow the player to solve the puzzle in peace without the constant encounters.

There's a lot of potential in the game though, looking forward to see where you take it post-jam!

Real fun and inventive game!

Uptown Hastings is legit anxiety... like worse drivers than round by mine and the jobsworth chickens are a henpecking hell when you run the lights.

Loved the Aussie flavor with the text and such like. I am not an Aussie myself but I watch a lot of cricket so I dig the lingo a lot and I really like Aussie wordsmithing so it was good to see it here.

I am not sure if it is a bug or not but after escaping the prison I ran back to where I first got arrested and the Sheila wasn't there but I still got the initial thrown in jail scene.

Good job with the game, I do like it a lot!

Hey it's great to see an RM2K game in the jam here! I've been using this engine myself a lot lately so kudos to you.

The story is quite intriguing and everything moves along at a nice pace so that's all good. Not much to complain about really so I won't XD. Good job!

Haha good times.

I thought I would take a break from my own cat laughing at me 24/7 and chill play some jam games but lo and behold there is no escape XD

Good stuff - a little shorter than the stuff you normally make but it's still great!

Awesome story game! Very engaging, well constructed and I very much enjoyed the twist at the end.

I really like the character dialogue busts. Did you make them yourself? They are both cute and sophisticated at the same time if you know what I mean and hopefully I did juxtapose myself there.

Just one small gripe - since this is a narrative driven story game with lots of text then I think it would benefit hugely from a quick grammar check. Just little things like the odd spelling mistake and not capitalizing single 'i' like 'I'. Honestly, it doesn't bother me at all but I know some people are picky about it in text heavy games like this.

Otherwise - great job, very enjoyable game!

That to me sounds like the assets weren't packed when trying to deploy the game.

Did you make sure you had the checkbox ticked on the 'Include Run Time Package in Game Disk'  when you created your Game Installer?

Headgear   Shiny Head

Immaculate noggin.

Real nice how you managed to put your own personal stamp and articulate your individual style into a 12 hour development time game.

My review is summed up in these words -> refers reader to game title.

You're welcome - the whole process of figuring it out took me over 2 hours initially.

I was caught in a loop of looking at the EasyRPG site, cross referencing that with other users problems to figuring out their sticking points then matching them up to my own and the whole thing became a big crapshoot so I figured might as well make some proper instructions start to finish.

Good to hear you're looking forward to the jam!

My aim is to help surprise people what they can achieve with a very limited time frame and please don't forget not to stress about it.

'Game per day' is the challenge but I will be happy if people even submit 1 game over the three days - whatever time they can spend and also games do not have to be complete. Demos, prototypes, janky proof-of-concepts are all welcome in the jam.

Eagerly anticipating what you end up cooking up and also love to see what you created in your 'practice run' too :)

Thanks for playing!

Thanks for playing I am glad you enjoyed the game!

The cave behind the start point restores HP.

It's a low effort game made in a couple hours I can't cover all bases. Thanks for trying.

Any chance of a web build in the future? Thanks.

To people playing and rating for the jam: I made a walkthrough for the game here.

Thanks I am glad you like the guide.

It's a tad raw but I kind of like how it came out TBH so I don't think I will tinker with it too much now.

I think because you made the game non-linear it needed at least someone to make a route map through in order to avoid potential frustration.

Correct me if I am wrong but you can go swing your fists at Phlogiston right after you activate the elevator at the start?

Also compiling the walkthrough gave me another excuse to make another run through the game haha.

I believe AGOT really found it's audience with me and I am lucky you submitted the game to a jam I was participating in or it would have completely flown below my radar. Now I can follow whatever you make with great interest - you've won a fanboy for life haha.

But in all seriousness, I think making a walkthrough was my best compliment to the game as perhaps it will make it more accessible to those who are drawn by the art but are struggling with progression.

I think I'll go ahead and post the link to the walkthrough on the game's jam page too whilst voting is still underway just so it's out there :)

Awesome and I did spend an hour trying to find that dang treasure location and I finally found it in the place that I least expected it to be of course.

Guide updated to give the location and also due to some very shrewd game design by your good self, placed it in the correct part of the guide recommended for the players :)

A soft hint would be most welcome!

I think about as soft as I would want to go is:

'Is it on the overworld?'

I look at the map and it doesn't look like the overworld but then I think to myself what the hell else could that map clue be?

Like if it is then I don't mind manually searching every square on the overworld but if it's not I really have no clue even on which map it could be XD

EDIT: Fast forward six hours and my raw walkthrough for AGOT is ready now here

This is all the info I gathered in my three runs to get a player through the game including the Presidente fight if they wish. All I believe that is missing is the treasure map section.

I will edit and add to the walkthrough as needed. If you would kindly give it a skim over at your leisure and make suggestions or corrections I would be grateful :)

Thanks and yes today I did fancy another bash at the game in preparation for making a walkthrough for other players.

In this latest run I discovered some more quartz to get to a level 23 ending and I am only missing the treasure map clue which I assume is where I will get my greedy mitts on the final two.

Pending another run tomorrow I should be at the stage where I would feel confident enough to make a decent walkthrough.

I will probably mock it up in something shitty like Notepad and just get a basic .txt file containing all the info to start out with.

To be fair I don't own any decent writing app due to Microsoft gating stuff behind paywalls and subscriptions nowadays but Google probably has a decent free one so I'll see what I can come up with and send you a link to whatever I get made to Google Drive or something and get your OK on it or any additions you would want included.

Not 100% sure what time frame it's going to get done in but I'll be sure to keep to you updated.

Ah gotcha haha but in all seriousness I did like a lot of stuff you made in here.

The custom enemies being larger than life and also the samurai portrait were really good.

I hope you keep working on the game, it's got some decent foundations going for it.

Awesome job and glad you enjoyed the game!

Thanks so much for the high praise with the sprites.

It was my first time actually making graphics myself and everything is custom from the chars, enemies, tilesets, system UI and more.

I also released the whole lot as free asset downloads over on my itch main page for public use including extra chars, tilesets and monsters that were planned for an Altima II that I ended binning due to writer's/game dev's block or whatever you want to call it, I'm sure you know what I mean :)

Thanks for playing :)

What a journey...

Now that I've played through to the end I want to give my thoughts on the game separately to those that I expressed in the jam comments.

Vibes and aesthetics are what I really enjoyed most about the game.

Although very unique and uncompromisingly it's own thing, I can see many influences from other great RPGs like Franzen in here.

The party really reminds me of the Onion Knights in Final Fantasy III.

Ocean, Terra and Gale I get, but Ashleigh is kind of the black sheep as far as the naming modus operandi goes. Perhaps the 'Ash' part has something to do with Fire but maybe you could clear that one up for me?

Again, very enjoyable game and art experience in general. The game is just so lovingly made that at some point I want to go through it again.

I didn't find everything, got to level 20 and beat the final boss. Didn't find the treasure on the treasure map nor beat the optional tank boss.

On my next run through I want to try get to level 25 and do all the optional stuff so I could maybe write up a spoiler free walkthrough on the game if time allows in the near future (with your permission, of course!).

Thanks again for making this unique and beautiful treasure. i LoVe YoU

Umm... help?

I got owned by the spirit then I got stuck on a baby blue screen with one odd tile that is not blue.

Is this a bug or the end of the game?

For some reason, the visual aesthetic reminds me of the Mother/Earthbound games which was a nice surprise.

I do like how you gave the game some neat touches like a custom font, alternative UI and some cool SFX to make it stand out and be it's own thing.

Overall a good job with the game, it would benefit from a little touch up post jam but this is a really solid entry!

The strength of this game is the character development and each of their unique qualities.

It felt like I was playing an anime to be honest, which I did like - it was a good change of pace.

Slightly disappointing to read that you planned on implementing puzzles into the game but didn't get the chance as I do feel that would have added an extra dimension to the gameplay. Solid game, nontheless!

Good work with the level design and the narrative at the game start, it really sets up the scene nicely.

The inclusion of the timed attacks are something I've not seen in an RPG Maker game in quite some time; so much so that I almost forgot those plugins existed but go back 5 years or so then they were in literally every other game. It was good to actually see those in action once again.

Pretty solid jam game, thanks for making and sharing!

Awesome that would be great to see what you make in RM2K.

I am hosting an upcoming RM2K jam here on itch if you're interested?

Click here to check it out. Would be great to have you along even if you don't wanna submit you could check out the other submissions :)

I know I need to talk to the elder to progress, but interacting with him did nothing.

There's only two other NPCs and talking to either of them does nothing to let me progress.

I tried clicking on everything and can't figure it out and opening the menu gives me the error.

I can gave you a rating for the jam, but I would prefer it to give you a more fair one if I could play the game a little more if you can get an update out before the jam ends? Thanks :)

Thanks for the feedback I really do appreciate that.

My games are usually on the more difficult bordering on unfair sometimes side of the spectrum (points accusingly at Dark Souls in 2013!). This sometimes doesn't endear my works to more general audiences but I don't think it's in my blood to make my games too easy haha.

But I really do value the feedback I get very highly since I want people to enjoy what I make so I welcome everything, good, bad and indifferent.

Hope you do get some good time to chill and check out some stuff and of course I'll play some things you've made too, very much looking forward to getting to the end of your jam game when I get a minute (got wrecked by the Coo monsters LOL on my last run so I do plan to conquer that!)

Thanks for giving it a bash and your continued support, I do appreciate it.

Thanks very much for playing and all the useful feedback.

So glad you enjoyed the atmosphere and level build, it's what I put most of my focus into.

The game is very rushed since I started running out of time before the jam deadline, so things like fleshing out the proper story and refining the combat had to take a backseat but it's something I do plan on improving post jam.
