Thank you for the kind feedback.
Honestly, I would have felt awkward if this late submission would have won the jam (and that is a big 'if' since yours and the other game were very good).
But since I made this game from start to finish especially for this jam I still wanted to finish it and submit so others could enjoy it - would have been a shame to waste it. The winning was not really important. With every project I hope to learn and grow.
Thanks for playing :)
Very stylistic and faithful to retro handhelds in terms of graphics and audio.
Simple and pretty well executed. I like how the crosshair changes as it moves over terrain of the same color but sometimes I still had a hard time seeing it. That said I think you did your best given the limitations of the palette you were using.
Like the others I couldn't make it past the fourth night. I think that's where the difficulty starts to ramp up.
I think players who like this type of game could easily get addicted to this and play it for hours.
I really love the visual aesthetic you were going for here.
The game reminded me of the fact that horror games don't have to be set in the dark; daytime (if done well) can be just as scary and unnerving as night.
I enjoyed exploring the little industrial/agricultural settlement and it felt like I was wandering around an eerie eastern European facility tucked away amidst some dark woods that hardly anybody knows about.
Overall, pretty cool game for a jam :)
Thank you for the reply.
I didn't know this was a ranked jam, I was just making this for fun.
But whatever I do whether it's for fun or for ranked participation I still like to make something to the best of my ability so hopefully I can get something you can all enjoy up very soon!
I'll get you a link if I go over the deadline (Which I probably will!) :)
Okay, I managed to play it today. Pretty cool game. I really like the facility level. Is that a sample map or did you make it yourself? If you did, then good job.
I have a couple of suggestions for you.
Each time I fought the drones, they would initiate the same cutscene as when the first one was fought. Unless this is intentional?
Also I think the text would be better left to the default confirm to move on rather than timed. Slow readers might not be able to read all the text in time.
Also there was one small bug where Reid's portrait popped up when examining the crystal instead of the protagonist's.
Overall, good job. Keep at it and I will see what you make next.
I looked at the jam page and nowhere under rules does it say that the game HAS to fit the jam theme.
HOWEVER, there is a category in the ratings for 'Theme'.
Can I take this as worst case my game does not fit the theme at all and I get extremely low rating in Theme category?
Or will my game just be disqualified if it does not fit the theme at all?
I am not particularly bothered about ratings in the jam, I'd just like people to play my game. I wanted to go for a 'chill' type game - totally opposite from the theme of being risky.
However if it means the game is no good for the jam, then I'll probably just leave it. Thanks :)
Thanks for playing, I appreciate it!
You've uncovered some interesting bugs there - have to admit I didn't see any of these myself.
As for the puzzle, it looks like you have got that worked out spot on, so I'll for sure have to look into what's causing the issue.
The second one I can guess is probably a simple mistaken transfer event on my part, easy to fix.
The third one seems even more odd. The only way the player can Game Over is by running out of Vitality either by not consuming items or being attacked after 9pm. Time itself is never a threat in and of itself so I will for sure have to investigate.
I apologize for marring the experience with these pesky bugs and oversights, I'll for sure check these out. FYI the code on the door SHOULD end the demo of the game, so you were right there anyway - good job!
I'm just playing some games made by people I follow here on itch.
This looked cool so I thought I would give it a spin.
Didn't know I would be playing a WRPG heavily influenced by old SEGA RPGs! This was a very nice surprise indeed.
In particular I noticed a lot of mechanics coming from the underrated Miracle Warriors, such as the NPCs in combat that can be conversed with and how enemy difficulty is dependent on which terrain you are travelling on.
It gives it just enough to stand out from the crowd of RPG games made in RPG Maker.
Progress is very attritional (but I like that). For reference I didn't venture over the first bridge until I had bought all the weapons and armour in Daria, bought the cat, bought all the skills at the temple, stocked right up on consumables AND was level 21. Even then I did not feel overpowered.
Difficulty is on point with good balance. The game is not hard as such but IS punishing; i.e mistakes are punished fairly harshly. Grinding for money and items seems much more important than grinding for the EXP.
Would have dearly loved a healer, would have mitigated the grinding to such an extent instead of having to rely on items all the time.
Of course the standout of the game is the visual appeal of the enemies and all the animations in battle, they are all really great.
Overall very good game. Will likely put a few people off with the slow burn at the start, but those who stick with it will find a rewarding experience.
P.S I took the 'good option' when confronted with the antagonist. Might play through again at some time and go with the other option.
Thanks to all those who played and gave me feedback on my jam game.

The game is still work in progress but I updated it with additional content for a post jam update for anyone still interested in the project.
I had a great time with the jam and played around 60 of your games and will for sure come back for the next one.
Good luck to all you guys, I followed some of you who's games caught my eye - can't wait to check out the updates!
I finally faced my fears and braved one of this jam's games.
It's a very addicting platformer game, I just had to finish it.
I love the way the player sprite is only visible whilst jumping, it adds to the creepiness and the atmosphere.
I like the sounds, they are disturbing and used well throughout. The game gives me Limbo vibes, for sure.
Very easily playable and enjoyable browser experience. Will rate 5 stars :)
Not sure if this is a time loop game or not, but can't seem to progress as the events are being repeated.

I played this event and went to the castle and the princess joined then went south and the same event repeated.
I went back to the big house at the start and the hooded person was there again playing the same event?
Not sure if this is intended or a bug?
