Although to be fair... this tedium is a simulation of the real thing.
I remember game stores with deep pockets to invest in opening packs in hunt of rare cards being tasked with the tedium of opening packs.
(The only deck games I prefer to play these days are those boardgames where everybody has a chance to draft their deck as part of the gameplay)
