- Kinophobia https://brunodias.itch.io/kinophobia by Bruno Diaz - Research-based (Roottrees-style, but not family tree) within an old-school text adventure format, creepy and compelling horror in an abandoned movie lot.
- Coldwake (demo only) https://madleapgames.itch.io/coldwake by MadLeapGames - Type help-like mechanic of file-finding, unsettling sci fi. The demo's big enough to get a real taste for it, hope the rest happens
- The Yearbook https://thistlestudios.itch.io/the-yearbook by thistlestudios - detective-type (Golden Idol, maybe Obra Dinn-type? I haven't played Obra yet) where you use documents and forensic evidence to identify victims of a fire and what happened
- Family https://owlskip-games.itch.io/family by Owlskip Games - Roottrees-style, but the family tree is the connections of an 80s indie music scene.
- Leaftaker https://k-ramstack.itch.io/leaftaker by K-Ramstack - Research-based horror mystery
- The House on [Redacted] Street https://matthew-cavener.itch.io/house-on-redacted-st by Matthew Cavener - explore a house for clues about what happened (Golden Idol/Obra Dinn-like?), eerie and sad
- My Friends the Monster Trainers https://celia14.itch.io/my-friends-the-monster-trainers by Celia. A light-hearted, kid-friendly research game where you read letters for clues to fill out a Pokedex
A couple I didn't play through because of tech issues or frustrations I ran into but might go better for other people (or me again if I give them another try:
- Red Zero https://nijolas.itch.io/red-zero by nijolas - type help-style computer file-based mystery, but had more Linux-like commands that were a little less intuitive to me and I got frustrated so can't say much about it, but seemed like it had a lot of the kind of stuff I liked about type help, so worth trying yourself (and I'll probably try again sometime).
- Manifest 333 https://falconpilot.itch.io/manifest-333 by FalconPilot - type help-style, seemed cool, I ran into a frustration and quit, but think it might have just been an off day and is worth trying again.
- Disconcordia https://icely.itch.io/disconcordia by icely - Discord-like mechanics and seemed like it might scratch that type help itch, but it glitched for me, hopefully won't for you (and maybe me on a different browser).
