Hi Cryo,
I'm new on itch.io, so don’t have any video game writing credits and have actually never written a video game. Great candidate, right? But hear me out! I'm on here to change that!
I've primarily written screenplays, of which three are in various stages of consideration/development, so my fingers, toes and other extremities are being crossed vigorously. Rejection, however, isn’t knew. Currently, I’m actually in the postproduction phase of my own little film project, which has been an interesting journey. I've also written a number of short stories which are being ushered off to various competitions and publishers as my uncoordinated sausage fingers extract this reply from my shattered keyboard and, so, are in various states of limbo. But that' a separate and often disheartening struggle altogether.
So, yeh, I’m your typical writer; i.e. thus far unsuccessful. Basically, what I'm trying to say is, you are not getting Earnest Hemmingway here, let’s be honest. Actually, in all my time writing it's never actually occurred to me to attempt any kind of narrative design or writing for video games at all, which is bizarre because I love video games and narrative design. So again, I want to change that.
I can bring your characters, their dialogue and your worlds to life through iteration, enthusiasm and passion as well as a firm grasp of narrative structure and technique.
I bring the following skills to the table:
- Scripts: either via traditional scriptwriting software or via Twine and INK (which I am becoming more and more proficient in the longer I bang my head against then them; especially INK)
- Narrative design, outlining and storyboarding, (so: Characterisation, structure, world building and dialogue)
- Proofreading and editing existing work.
- Experience collaborating with other disciplines in a creative pipeline.
- Cinematic postproduction work via Davinci Resolve (useful for cutscenes and promotional material like trailers etc.)
- Punctuality and commitment.
- A lifelong passion for video games.
I can begin writing for you on Monday and have something compelling to show you by Tuesday.
