Good sir, may I ask you what software you use for the visuals? Is it blender? It's just, I've been learning blender myself - to make an avn of my own, so I'm interested in any inspiration I can get. Much love!
I don't mean to be rude, I am still much worse than you at it - just wanted to give you mad props for going on with it even if it looks a bit rough in places - this is inspiring me not to surrender to perfectionism (I've given up my project 3 times already because I couldn't believe I was able to make visuals "good enough to tell a story" - I've been looking to either achieve perfection or just abandon it all for good, and it's nice to see a loved, decent game that doesn't care about perfection)
If my message looks like a convoluted way of saying "your game looks bad" - trust me, it's not, I am 100% sincere.
Hi,
I did not take your message in a negative way. Yes, my graphics are not perfect and though I try my best to make them look as nice as possible, I won't lose myself trying to achieve "perfection". All of my graphics in both of my games (Serenity and Last Human) were created using HoneySelect 2. The entire image for every scene is done completely with HS2 only. I do not use (or know how to use) blender. I've never touched it. I should note however that I use a heavily modded version of HS2. I purchased HS2 on Steam some years back and then ended up grabbing a repack version that is designed for this type of rendering. Since then, I've added both paid and unpaid mods... some mods that I paid modders to build for me, as well as new tools that were made to work with HS2.
Going into detail about how I go about putting it all together isn't anything I can explain here nor would I have time to show you. The only advice I can give you is - if you're going with blender and you feel comfortable enough to create a game using that, I would stick with that and grow with it. If you decide to use something like HS2, you will find a few videos buried in youtube and very few devs who will have the time to show you anything. Most of us who make games using HoneySelect (or HoneySelect 2) will tell you the same thing... we learned mostly on our own because there is very little info out there that take you through step by step how to use it.
Best of luck to you
