I think I always get soft locked... dirt bucket either goes to the well or to the artist pig and neither give any items to progress
If you give the dirt to the artist pig then take the brush from the pig, bring it to the cabin you can open the fridge and dip the brush in the milk in the fridge. Then if you give that brush back to the artist pig you'll be able to find luig
