Hi,
I played Bloody Bridge for a while and overall my first impression is very positive. The game already feels surprisingly polished. Menus and transitions are clean, the UI/UX is easy to understand, and I really like how lightweight the presentation feels – there is not much unnecessary clutter, while still looking good.
Intro & First Run
One small detail I noticed in the intro: the two other prisoners don’t seem to be wearing handcuffs.
In my first run I defeated two of the three opponents. I used my special ability, but couldn’t really recover afterwards, while the enemy also had a special ability.
What confused me was starting the game again afterwards. I had to create another character and saw the prison intro again. Since this eventually leads to the village after defeating the first three enemies, I now understand the structure better, but during those first attempts I wasn’t sure whether I was replaying a tutorial, starting a new run, or progressing through the actual game.
My second character focused mostly on Vigor and Dexterity and did much better. I could block attacks, recover by sleeping between fights, and killed the final opponent with only two hits, probably thanks to crit damage combined with the special attack.
Inventory
This is where I encountered some actual bugs.
While quickly switching between two swords using drag & drop or double-click to compare their stats, item icons sometimes disappeared. Initially they came back after another action, but eventually my regular sword appeared to be completely gone.
I could also drag a spell into the inventory, where it then disappeared.
Fortunately, the underlying data seems to be intact. Once I entered combat, my equipment was there again.
I also initially got stuck with both the Spells and Inventory panels open. Eventually I noticed the tooltip saying “right click to close.” This wasn’t intuitive to me – I naturally expected another left-click on the same button to close the panel again.
Combat & Progression
In the first proper fight after reaching the village, I suddenly didn’t block a single attack, despite having a ring and sword that I expected to improve my chances. Maybe the enemies were simply much stronger, but I had no good way of judging that beforehand.
This made the progression difficult to read. After dying, I was sent back to the main menu, which confused me again about the overall run structure. After defeating the initial three enemies and reaching the village, I assumed: “Okay, that was the introduction – now the actual game begins.”
Because of that, returning to the main menu after the next death felt unexpected.
Personally, I think the game could either communicate this structure more clearly, or perhaps start closer to the village and avoid repeating some of the initial setup.
Overall
Bloody Bridge already feels very solid and polished. I especially like that it doesn’t feel overloaded despite having quite a few RPG systems.
I was interested in seeing how the character progression and enemies develop further, but eventually the fights became a little too long for me to want to work my way through another run.
My main feedback would therefore be to make the run/progression structure and enemy strength easier to understand, and to fix the inventory UI issues. The foundation itself made a very good impression on me.
