Yo! I recorded my thoughts while I played in this Google Doc, although my notes were much lighter than usual with the nature of this game.

This is really fun! It’s obviously missing a lot of meat but the foundation is really strong. The combat is quite snappy, and while the mechanics seem complicated they’re very fast to grasp. One small criticism I have is the seemingly random nature of the skills you draw from your deck makes fights feel rather RNG dependent; it’s possible that there is no RNG in which case I don’t know what the determining factor is for new skills, but from my perspective playing it blind they feel arbitrary. If there is some sort of deckbuilding mechanic that could be pretty fun and cool, but otherwise I honestly would prefer if you had access to all your skills at once, even if that means reducing the total number of skills per character. I like the resource mechanic a lot, and while the animations are a bit stiff, they’re a lot better than I would expect for a game like this. There wasn’t a ton of music but I recognized some of the Touhou remixes and appreciated them. I do think the opening logo bits kinda sets off a bad first impression with how meme-y they are (and a potential legal issue too with the use of barely disguised trademarks, although this game is already in an iffy position legally), but I suppose that first impression at least lets people relax and not expect too much. I’d love to see how this game feels when it’s got more characters and content to go off of, but it’s a really strong foundation!
