The game is really fun but there are some quality of life improvements I would make:
- The radio "Report" screen should have access to the Monster Book, instead of needing to click the driver to get it.
- The tree branches blocking the screen (including dialog and clicking) really isn't fun, because there's already a lot of clutter. I would make that go in a layer behind the UI/chatbox, if it even needs to be kept.
- Never being able to give exact change because I didn't have the correct (low) denominations of coins wasn't fun. I would make it so there's an infinite number of 1s, at least. (Honestly I never used the bills at all so they were worthless, but maybe its because this is a demo.)
- Unlocking info for the Hints takes too long. It needs to be way easier to decode that text.
- The tutorial bus rides need to be shorter (at least level 1), since there isn't much to do.
- It feels frustrating to get interrupted at a new stop. I would allow the player to continue playing and have a "Continue" button or something to actually trigger the Store/new passenger pickup, and keep the jeep as-is (with the monster meter running, but no radio satisfaction moving) to allow the player to clear things before the state changes again.
- I'm not sure why correctly reporting a monster loses satisfaction, I think that's too punishing. If anything, it should increase satisfaction. There were times I had a lot of monsters in a row and there was no way to avoid running out of satisfaction.
- I would make it so the radio and any holy items can be used without clicking the bus driver. They can live on the UI. (The radio already has an icon on the screen if it's playing, just make it clickable and add a hover state for the time/cooldown.)
Obviously I'm typing all this because I really enjoyed the game, I'll definitely wishlist it and look forward to a Steam release.
