Appreciate the feedback, this does seem like something is missing.
Could you drop your save file for us, so we can look further into this?
You can drop the save on any file sharing site you'd like (just make sure the link isn't private).
Saves will look like "5-2-LT1".
Where your game folder is located, you'll have a "game" folder where the .exe is. Inside the "game" folder you'll have "saves".
Example: C:\AHouseInTheRift-GameVersionHere\game\saves
