From the department of “busywork is bad”: if you have an item with “when you sell”, it’s worth taking items that combine (e.g. scrolls/stones/potions) one by one so that they don’t get a chance to combine, and then selling one before you obtain another, so that you get more “when you sell” triggers. That seems suboptimal; doing things a more tedious way shouldn’t provide more benefits.
