I do not understand your problem. You can use a controller?...
Even if they don't have a controller, wasd doesn't make a game unplayable at all. The only possible problem if they have a keyboard is if they don't have arrow keys, which almost every keyboard has.
Edit: How would you be physically unable to use a controller but at the same time be able to use a keyboard??
To reply to everything, I'm not american, I'm french, I don't have qwerty.
I don't have a controller.
I am not literally unable to play, but it's extremly hard when the keys are not in the right place.
Even without all of this, what if I just wanted my own set up? Giving the ability to choose your own keys to play don't seem unreasonable to me.
I don't think you've understood, the wasd keys work, they are the ones that work, but since they aren't placed to work like this it's ridiculously hard to control.
Basically, imagine w becomes c, d becomes s, s becomes d, and a becomes q. Try to put your hand like this and you'll see why I say it's unplayable.
Even if I was using qwerty, giving the option to the player of choosing the keys they want to use should be here.
