I have some ideas to implement in the game, to render it more dynamic and varied:
- put the possibility to increase or decrease freely the velocity of the boats/ships (so 1x, 2x and 3x). And add an achievement for beating 3 or 10 nights in a row with 3x speed.
- put an Endless Mode, where after every Night, you can get 1 free upgrade, and the velocity of the boats/ships increase automatically. Like, every 15 nights, speed increase (Night 1 to 15 = 1x, 16 to 30 = 2x, 31 to 45 = 3x, 46 to 60 = 4x, and so on, and so on). And add an achievement for reaching Night 100. Of course, you will have to add the possibility to leave Endless Mode and resuming it later.
- put an Endurance Mode, with the same settings of Endless Mode (or maybe no upgrades here), but in this case, if you leave, you have to restart from scratch. And add an achievement for reaching Night 50.
- put a boss event, like a blackest night (no full moon) with a giant Kraken, where you must use the light to defeat it and you obtain a giant amount of Oil as a reward and a free decoration for the Lighthouse. And add an achievement for defeating it. Other bosses could be a giant Crab, or Cthulhu (where if you hit the Sirens, their song will stun him for a few seconds).
- add Sharks into another Night Event, where they can destroy the boats.
These are some really fun ideas. The 1x/2x/3x speed controls are probably the first thing I’d like to experiment with, and a streak achievement for playing at 3x would fit nicely.
I also like the distinction between a resumable Endless Mode and a one-run Endurance Mode. They would need quite a bit of balancing, but they could add a real late-game challenge.
The Kraken event fits the game surprisingly well too, especially during a Moonless Night. And using the sirens’ song against Cthulhu is a very clever idea! Sharks could work as well, as long as the player gets a warning and a chance to protect the boats.
I can’t promise all of these yet, but I’m definitely keeping them for future updates. Thanks for taking the time to write such detailed suggestions!
No problem, this game is awesome and i wanna see it at his very best. Another idea: the morning mail. As of now, you given us 3 options, although the reward is always the same: coins and wood (in different quantities). It would be better if every option gives a different reward, like Coin, Wood or Oil. For example, if you guide 9 boats, you obtain 125 coins. If you guide 3 freighters, you obtain 300 wood. And if you guide 5 skiffs, you obtain 50 oil.
