I think what they mean by forced (apologies if I get this wrong op) is that you have to engage with the potential to be with a male character/enemy as some tend to have a distinct preference 

For myself I much prefer female, futa and female presenting characters

So it would be cool to tune those preferences in the future, like a custom run feature that could include modifiers to make runs more difficult for greater rewards as well as choosing who you face
