I'm certain that by "monthly updates" they mean the monthly progress reports that you said you'd stop posting. But people don't know why you stopped posting them, and seem to be trying to guess at the reason.

I thought it was clear as I wrote an announcement stating the reason already, but I suppose it was limited to Patreon only so some might not understand, as I thought it was only relevant to supporters. I should make it public now so it’ll be clearer.

I’m confused because the game being datamined and shared outside of supporters didn’t stop monthly reports. The announcement about no more monthly report was posted in March this year.

The leak, however, affected our decision to release a new build (but the builds have never been released monthly and we made clear of that even on the Patreon page.) We didn’t want to release anything with unfinished assets or having to worry about people datamining the game and leaking something that could spoil anything beyond Chapter 7, so we said that any new build, if there would be one, would be something that’s polished or at least contain only things that we won’t feel bad if it’s seen by non-supporters.

Having to clean up the builds, making sure that there’s nothing for dataminers to find, costs us extra time and labour when we’re already a small group with limited resources. And I’m sure that people would be happier with a finished game.
