Looking forward to the 2e one. Will the new version keep the playability focus? Oh and for some reason I feel like a print version specifically top flipping spiral bound would be fun liek the old standing dark sun booklets

I'm not sure I'll make a 2E player guide - at least not soon - however the Vastlands Guidebook does, to an extent, cover similar ground with rules explanations, character options, and more equipment than you can shake a stick at.
