I always recommend that all independent software developers submit their software to VirusTotal for review before releasing it to avoid trust issues after release. After all, it’s very difficult for individual developers to handle public relations to repair their reputation.

Thanks for the advice. I did that and I knew that, but my only way to get rid of these false positive detections is to buy a signature for my software. I really don’t have the budget to do that. If you have more knowledge about this, any information would be helpful and I would be grateful.

Since you’ve decided to offer this software for free in exchange for feedback on how to improve it, why not consider making it open source? For open-source projects, SignPath.io or Sectigo offer free certificates.
