If there’s a complete separation between the vertical and horizontal axes plus restrictions on communication, it’ll exceed the brain’s cognitive limits and turn into a “Sai no Kawara” scenario, so I think this requires a signaling function on the game board. After all, the current communication functions are all completely disconnected from the board. As it stands, I think the difficulty level is on par with carrying out a mission on a space station with communication failures. 😵
For example, if players could use colors to signal things like “I think this spot is confirmed” or “This is just a tentative mark,” wouldn't this game transform into the ultimate cooperative game?
I was incredibly excited by the concept (DIVE×BUDDY)! This is a game I’m really looking forward to seeing in the future. 🙂
