These stories are something special. Despite the premise, they're not about sex at all, but rather people figuring their shit out as they actualize. Sex is just just treated as the lens through which their humanity (or lack thereof in one case) is examined. Combined with the more fantastical elements of the setting, the collection reads almost like sci-fi, which is great since that's my favorite genre.
I don't want to be weird, but I feel like this was almost written for me specifically. I'm ace, but likely the exact opposite flavor as the author, so getting to read more emotionally anchored erotica that's this well-composed was an enlightening experience.
