So I picked this up in the Game Industry Hardship Fund, ended up playing the demo version instead by mistake (the itch app defaults to that but still, whoops) but when I try to load the actual game it tries to load steam and gives me an "error occurred while launching this game: No licenses" message.

So two part question: is the full version supposed to be workable on itch or is it solely the demo version and nothing else, and if so can one carry the demo progress over as it'd be a rough break to lose two to three hours of progress.

Hi!! First of all, thank you so much checking the game out!

Second of all, it IS meant to be workable on itch, I must've broken something during the latest update... I'll work on getting it fixed and let you know when it's done! Your progress from the demo will carry over, so no worries there.

Thank you for letting me know!!

That is good to hear on both fronts! I was enjoying my time with the game so I'm glad I'll hopefully get to continue in the near future :

Okay! It should be working now. I tried it with a computer without steam/any other storefronts and it worked fine. Please redownload it and let me know if you still run into any issues!

Thank you so much for letting me know!

Loaded it up real quick and it both worked and retained my progress, so yay! Thanks for taking care of that so quickly.

BTW as a heads up when one tries to download this via the itch app it initially only lists the "nextfest" demo and you have to manually select show all downloads to find the full game one and when you select it a warning pops up saying that it isn't tagged for any platform but it might still work on Windows (which it does). My best guess is that because it seemingly isn't tagged properly the app is half-hiding it? I included a screenshot so you could see what it looks like:
