There'll be more coming! Mostly I'm still just trying to figure out the keeping child versus giving them up situation.

Funny, I've actually been speculating how leaving children with certain groups relates to the world itself.
Given that there are several ways to either die or become stuck in worrisome situations, I'd imagine that collective child-rearing would be the preferred method of looking after kids for most societies (unless of course you live in Upper New Ark...), especially if you're a parent worried about those kids getting caught in those lewd situations.
I mean, think about it: there are several issues that can occur even while within actual settlements, and there could be a possibility of those children getting kidnapped. Plus, like it or not, even most civilians in those cities would probably find things too busy, whether it's making rent, running supplies towards the settlement from outside the city limits, maybe even as law enforcement...
Thus, it might seem rather normal in this world's cultures for most civilians to leave their kids in a sort of trusted group-care service to not only prevent possible tragedy, but also to ensure said children are well socialized within a trustworthy community, even a safety for when tragedy strikes the parents insead. Especially if the parents are folks who might be needed for the good of the town/settlement. Plus, education is probably ensured.
I've even imagined a scenario where the player talks with Cless (for whatever reason, I never figured out a specification) about how common it is for families to have their children left in collective care facilities vs solely raising them, for the sake of safety, which could lead to a whole new can of worms if you consider how tempting that is for nefarious individuals that enjoy power over the helpless...
It can easily be a bit of fun world-building, and possible character building, about the mild culture shock the protagonist inexplicably feels about the concept of leaving their child with someone else being considered absolutely normal, even responsible.
If the issue is from a coding perspective...
First, let me take this moment to say; I went looking through the plugins library to see what you used to make your game look and work the way it did. I can only say, my respect for your hard work on this game has deepened even further. Not only did you make half the plugins, but even I can tell as someone who's just dipping their toes into coding that those scripts look rather beefy. I can see why it might've taken so many years to finish the game, as you're not only the main artist and writer, but also the amount of work you put into coding this game. It truly is a testament to your work ethic and dedication.
Skip to this paragraph if you'd rather not read the previous paragraph, but I'd recommend taking a peek under the hood with the game "The Fertile Farm", where its main mechanic, other then running a farm, is that you play as, due to a blessing from the spirit of the farm, a perpetually pregnant wife of a merchant, who does the farming as a hobby.
Among the pregnancy mechanics, there's the nursery where you're character's babies that she's given birth to so far go to as a way to deal with the "whole lotta babies" aspect, in that you can look at stats of how many babies have been birthed so far, largest baby birthed, or the ratio of boys to girls that have been born. I have no clue how the dev did this, but maybe you can ask if them if you get stumped.
Plus, I've found a tutorial for MV/MZ that goes over the "romance and kids" system, granted I don't know how compatible with your current system their tutorial would be:
Reason I bring this up is because there may be the question of "how do you approach the topic of appearance when it comes to the parents?" Especially since your character is highly customizable...One possibility could be to have the kids' appearance rely on your partner rather than you, with the gender and some minor traits randomized. Heck, you could probably even make a few variables, switches, etc. to check for certain traits they might have, like if your character is a succubus or some other quest related shenanigans.
Or you could have a few quests tied to the aspect of your character having children with various named NPCs, like the reactions from some of the males or the question of what happens when a lover is having the baby.
