Is there a proper end to the Fae Prince questline? Aside from that loose thread I loved this game!

there is!! it's sort of a secret ending that involves (SPOILERS IN CASE YOU WANNA FIND IT YOURSELF)
completing additional quest lines in act 1 that give you new choices on subsequent visits to the prince. there's such a thing as serving too well!!
