Yes that's totally fine. You can modify them as much as you want for your game. 

That "no derivatives" protection is specifically to stop people from modifying the asset pack and then attempting to resell it as their own, it doesn't mean you can't modify it for your project. You can do whatever you want to it! Even if you are making a commercial game.
