I was stoked to see you punch out another game. I’ll keep my opinions as honest as I can. So far, loving your work. The last 3 games have been great. This one, i’m not sure how you’re coding your games but the “luck logic” is frustrating in this one. To have a great hand only to have the opponent snatch it from underneath you with a ridiculous hand is painful. Plus, the rewards aren’t worth the grind. i’d rather play some of your old games a few times over than grind this one. This one has a bitter taste to it.

I’m really glad for your honest review! But yeah, I can’t win ‘em all. The price of trying different things is doing some things wrong. And that’s okay.

Maybe a pure luck game wasn’t the ideal choice, I should’ve added some upgrades to make it more reliant on player progress. (I myself got stunned when I did all my rerolls to get a half-decent hand, and the opponent got the best hand with just 1 reroll 🫠).

Also, about the grind, it’s always tricky to get that balance right. Some people say my games are too short, others say they’re too grindy, and I’m always trying to find the sweet spot. But yeah, this one is less spicy at rewards than others (note to my future self! 😆).

Again, I’m really thankful for the honest review, they help me get better at developing games! 😁

You’re actually one of the few developers punching out games as fast as you do. You can afford to slow it down. I liked the concept of the game and when I talk about the grind, I love grinding the stats in all games. This one felt like “one step forward, four steps back.”

Thank you! About the pacing of releasing games — I tried working on just one project at a time before, but it didn’t go so well, so I switched to this schedule/challenge of making one small game per month. Maybe not the smartest idea, but I’m enjoying it and learning a lot 🤣 Maybe I’ll slow down in the future when I get a more serious project going. Also, I don’t like having a Patreon and not making meaningful progress in a month — feels like getting paid without delivering 🫠

And I get what you’re saying about the grind — it doesn’t really give that feeling of progression, unfortunately.
