I feel like it's actually kinda akin to Snake in that way. Nothing about each individual point/box gets more difficult to score over time, but the player is forced to deal with the consequences of the path they take. I've always had an idea for a variant of Snake that's less about reflexes and more about making a pretty pattern with the snake's body, and it has only just now occurred to me that this game actually kinda does some of what I was thinking, which is very cool!

If you ever did release this on a more official basis, I had an idea for a re-theme that I gotta share and I give you permission to use: make the main character a shark! That'd handily explain why they die when they don't move. Plus if you wanted to keep the "block chain" name, naming your game some variant of Shark Tank could still appeal to the finance/tech bro weirdos, while not being directly named after a widely ridiculed technology lol

Haha that’s kind of a good idea! I probably should come back to these older games and touch up some of them at some point. There’s some good ideas in here.

I named this game “block chain” way back in the olden times of 2018 – I had done an academic CS internship working on something “for the blockchain” mostly because claiming your thing was “for the blockchain” was a good way to get research funding back then. (We were actually just writing a compiler.) At the time, we had an ongoing joke that none of us knew what the word “blockchain” really meant. Of course, a few years later, the whole world would discover the meaning of blockchain, and the rest is history… I still think naming a game about chaining blocks “block chain” is a pretty good joke, though.

(and no, in case anyone reading this is wondering, i’ve never invested in cryptocurrency! 😵‍💫)
