I just gave this a play-through. It was fun!

I think a few additional features would go it a world of good:

  • If there is any possible way to get rid of the flicker every time your character moves, that would be amazing.
  • Sound effects for getting hurt and hurting an enemy. I mean, ultimately a sound effect for everything would be nice (off the top of my head: getting hurt, hurting an enemy, killing an enemy, searching and coming up empty, finding something, descending, ascending). These could be really simple. Muting would need to be independent from the music.
  • A way to make the status in the Q panel be on-screen. A status bar along the bottom of the screen where the messages appear would be amazing.
  • Scoring or something else that gives you a good sense of progress.
  • A high-score list. This would give you something to aim for that felt a bit more concrete.

Still, I enjoyed it, and I'll probably play some more at some point. It's different enough from the other C64 Rogue games that I can see value in keeping it handy alongside them.
