The pixel art space background is genuinely pretty. Dark blue nebula with purple veins and cross shaped stars scattered through it, and it has real depth. The player ship is well drawn with a nice detail on the blue engine.
The captain's portrait in the dialogue is the standout, an old guy with a white beard, sunglasses and a blue beret with a red band. He looks like an actual character rather than a placeholder. And the first line is a good setup joke: "It looks like another beautiful and peaceful day in our galaxy." We all know it isn't going to be. Having a Controls button in the main menu next to Start is a good call too.
Three problems, all layout. Start only worked on a double click. The dialogue box is clipped on the right, so the captain's line disappears mid sentence ("another beautiful and peacefu..."), and your own itch page warns people to play in fullscreen so the layout doesn't break. The fact you already know about it is good, but depending on fullscreen just to read the text is risky in a jam where most people play in the embedded window and move on. And the dialogue appears over the play area without making it clear how to advance it.
Good art and a good character. The layout just needs to fit inside the window.
