Kalayaan Road: The Story of Jesse caught my attention after I saw a Facebook post from fellow streamer PandoraVT. I decided to check it out without watching the trailer or looking at the screenshots, and I'm so glad I did because this game genuinely surprised me.
Everything feels incredibly polished, from the visuals and atmosphere to the overall presentation. I only encountered minor hiccups, but they didn't take away from the experience at all. Seeing pares (beef stew) featured in a game was such a fun touch, I had literally eaten the same dish the other day! The game is also packed with Filipino references and culture, and beneath its horror lies a much darker and more meaningful story than I expected.
It's hard to believe this is the developer's first game. You absolutely cooked with this one, Lawd. For just $4, it's more than worth the price. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique Filipino horror experience. It has its own identity and does a fantastic job of highlighting real issues our country faces while delivering a memorable horror story.
Amazing job, Lawd. I can't wait to see what you create next.
I'll give this game a 9.5 out of 10 bowls of Pares (Beef Stew)! 🍲
