Holy cannoli, this is your first game and your first game jam? This is wildly impressive, it's such a creative concept executed really well! And 60 levels!! My few nitpicks:

  • It tells you to press any key to go to the next level, but also autoadvances, which made me have to restart the level on a few occasions because I used spacebar as my key but the level had already advanced. Kinda on me for using space, though.
  • It took me way too long to understand what the instructions meant by "If you're not on any lit bars, drop" so I was very bewildered by the fact that some levels were solved by having me seemingly arbitrarily be allowed to grab sparks after I should have died, haha.

However, this game was so clever and clean that I played all 60 levels when I definitely should have instead gone to bed. Definitely expecting to see this one make it to the video!

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the game and makes me really happy you played all 60 levels!

I think both nitpicks are valid.

  • For the advancement I think I should pick a strategy and stick to it, just unsure which one is more intuitive or better. I gave the game to playtest to a few close people and got conflicting opinions here, and decided to add both suggestions, which I can see now hurt the experience :D
  • I tried to make every mechanic as intuitive as possible, and actually hoped the game would teach them in a clear way, but I can see how this mechanic can be hard to understand. I think maybe having a simple level with one number off bellow and another on above could teach this mechanic, so that it’s in the back of mind for more difficult levels.

Thank you again for the nice words!
