Yeah I 100% agree with you. I really racked my brain over ideas to make it less luck reliant, but any changes I made either didn't do enough or did too much, and it was nearly impossible to strike a balance between the two. So yeah, I am a bit disappointed with how the fishing system turned out, and if I could go back and update anything, it would probably just be adding some system that gives you more control over the fish you catch.
