Part of the script revisions for 0.4.4 was basically going through and just cutting a solid half of the narration and interior thoughts from the MC. It's mostly an experience thing, it's hard when you're new to gauge how explicit you need to be about descriptions and what each character knows and thinks.
Most of the saves should be fine, but a lot of the dialogue changed and just because of how ren'py saves work, since it's tied to the dialogue and scene hash, I can't fix the fact that a lot of the saves broke. I'd recommend at minimum skipping through back to where you were so you can make sure your gallery is filled in and everything.
