Thanks for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback, we really appreciate it. 
You're absolutely right that our game is heavily based on trial and error. Our intention was to make a "die and retry" game where memorization is the main skill. The idea was that each failed attempt teaches you something about the level.
That said, if we'd had more time, we wanted to make the levels feel fairer by adding more consistent placement rules for traps and clues, a bit like how Minesweeper gradually teaches you to recognize patterns. The goal was never to make the player guess randomly, but unfortunately we ran out of time before we could refine that aspect. So I completely understand why it felt frustrating.
Regarding the performance... well, you know the saying: "it worked on my machine!" xD We didn't have time to do a proper optimization pass before the deadline, but if we continue the project, that's definitely our number one priority.
