I asked the team to add the button but I got a definitive "no" as an answer. At second thought, I think they were right to refuse but it's not easy to explain why.
Allowing the player to play again removes the surprise element of the game and reduces the "quick-thinking" gameplay element that is, in fact, the very essence of our game. If the game works that well, it's because the player has to think quick, to improvise and, most of all, to accept an incomplete ending of the game. A lot of the mini-games are very, very hard to complete during the 10 seconds and that's totally on purpose.
We still decided to give the player a second chance with... a calendar of ten days instead of only five ! Players have two chances to maximize their points in the mini-games, with enough time between two identical games to recreate the surprise effect. The first try of each game serves to understand what must be done, the second to score points and avoid the tax collector's punishment.
Sorry, I speak too much. Thanks for playing, thanks for the comment.
