This premise is the most elegant fusion of the jam's two halves that I've seen. The jam's theme is high score chaser. The jam's cause is preservation. Here, chasing the record IS the act of preservation: you hit a million points to FORCE the game to save a local copy of itself before it dies. Nobody else tied those two things together in a single sentence.

Honestly, if I had to pick one entry to show someone who's never heard of Stop Killing Games and explain what the campaign is about, it would be this one. The premise is a thesis.

The leaderboard is a running joke and the best writing in the jam. The top half are the whales holding the system up (MetaAbuser, I_Bought_The_CEO, GachaBillionaire, WhaleLord99, SwipeToWin, MommysCreditCard) and the bottom half are the ones trying to tear it down (DownWithTheCEO, OfflineModePls, AntiCorporate, ServerNotDeadYet, PixelProtector). There's a whole story in the name list alone, and RentMoneyGone sitting between them is genuinely bleak.

Having a countdown to midnight on screen makes the urgency literal. The interface is a convincing mobile game too, hero panel with a card, rank, gem counter, Home / World / GACHA buttons. And the heroes being "unlikely hackers" whose abilities break the system, the mascot ignoring progression locks for 500% EXP, the knight raiding the company treasury, means the gacha's own characters are rebelling against the gacha. Starting you with a COMMON SLIME, the ultimate symbol of the junk pull, is the perfect detail.

Three notes. The dialogue box takes up nearly half the screen and covers the interface while Pixel talks. I didn't manage to pull the gacha or battle in the time I gave it, so I can't speak to how the combat holds up. And there are a few typos in the description ("permanet", "Breacks").

Planning a full downloadable offline version without the shutdown timer is exactly the right end of life answer, too. It makes the game itself the backup it's about.

thanks for the kind words and the overview :) I really appreciate it
