This has the best story I've run into in the jam. A kid finds out the alternate version of his favourite game became lost media, gone from stores and wiped off the internet, and the only arcade cabinet still running it sits in an abandoned mall that gets demolished tomorrow. That isn't an excuse to make an arcade game, that IS the jam.
The comic panel cutscene is really well done, the CAUTION KEEP OUT sign, the lock, the close up on the character. And the mall itself is beautiful: graffiti on the walls ("Hide here", "Tic Tac Terror"), cobwebs, plants, the checkered floor. It makes you want to explore instead of just walk through.
Then I hit a wall. When I reached the playable part the character simply does not move. I tried arrows, WASD, clicking the canvas to make sure it had focus, pressing Z to interact. Nothing. I ran it twice, once skipping the intro with Z and once watching the whole thing through, and both times he stayed in the same pose. My guess is the HTML5 build not receiving keyboard input.
Please look into that one, everything around it is far too polished to be blocked on the first playable screen. I'd genuinely come back and finish it.
