Yes, the red door is unlocked when the red button is pressed. Pressing a button can be done by leaving an ink trail on it. If the ink trail from pressing the button disappears, the button will no longer be pressed, thus closing the door again.

Then it's not intentional. The blue door should not be locked after unlocking it with a key, unless you restarted the game.
