I thought this was pretty cool - I'm impressed by how many abilities you managed to cram in here. The weight of the characters felt good, the shooting felt good, and the sound design was fantastic. I really liked the way the characters were both abstract and floaty, but it was always obvious where I was and what I was shooting at.
However, I had some struggles getting through playing it. I get that you said upfront it's best with a controller, but the keyboard + mouse controls are so awkward that it might as well be mandatory. I just skipped about half of the abilities in order to play with keyboard + mouse. I got stuck in the Tutorial because a weapon never spawned, and there was no quit option - I had to force quit out to try again. Then, I played the Survival mode and got through three waves without taking very much damage at all and always was able to heal back up quickly. Then I got to Wave 4, accidentally picked up a Sword, and couldn't figure out how to switch out of it. (The Sword VERY much felt like a downgrade, not an upgrade). I then got hit about 4 times by the same Rifle projectile, and went from full health to nearly dead in one hit. Finally, I think the idea is interesting, but I'm not really super sure why the murmuration part really matters - there didn't seem to be much of a nuance beyond a novel way to show a healthbar? In that sense, I wish the theme came through a little bit better.
I apologize because think this review skews a little critical - overall I think there's more good in this game than bad by a long shot. I think the criticism is mostly because there's SO much in this game. I think my overall suggestion would have been to pare back on how much got added in, and really polish what you added. But it's SUPER impressive how much you got done here, and again, I thought both the art and the audio were really on point - I would say that as far as sound design goes, this is the best submission I've played thus far.
