I tried to water the plants, but I don't seem to get what to do exactly. It tells me to press the spacebar, so I try to press it a few times, spam it and hold it. None seem to work and the 5 minute timer ran out. Am I missing something or is this a glitch?

I tried to recreate the bug and you're right. This his seems to be a bug and I'm extremely sorry this happened to you. Were you playing the web or windows version?
Edit: Again, I'm really sorry that you experienced this. I tried to check for bugs before sending but this wasn't a problem when I played before. For know the best workaround is to resize the window. If you're in the fullscreen mode try exiting it and vice versa.
