Hi. The game was NOT coded with AI. Ai was only used to LEARN the basics of coding "the ai tool in RENPY" and fixing minor grammar mistakes.

Please read all what i've said in the page before jumping into conclutions.

"The RenPy tool acts as an AI-native bridge, transforming AI agents like Claude or GPT into potent Ren'Py development assistants. It addresses the lack of a built-in editor in Ren'Py by allowing developers to describe desired changes in natural language, which the AI then translates into valid Ren'Py script, inserts into the correct location, and automatically compiles for verification. This streamlines the development workflow, enabling rapid prototyping and iteration through AI-driven script generation and project management."

However "minor", is this not still using Generative AI? I do not stand for its use in any shape or form. I don't really understand what you mean when you say you only used it to "learn". Generative AI is bad for the environment and works off a theft-based model even if you're not using it for art.

The developer used it just as a tool to help with the coding only ! It’s her first project on here it’s okay to use some help in something complex like coding for the first time . Can’t you just say something positive? You didn’t even try the actual game with all the effort scripts , art style , etc

why would I spend my time playing a game that uses a "tool" that is antithetical to its own core messaging? I feel like that's missing the whole point. Not to mention I did actually say something positive if you read my comment, about how both the premise and art itself look and seem great. But great premise and art won't make me play a game made with AI. And to be honest, its not really clear just how much AI is used to code it, with only the vague description of "just" using it to "learn" basic coding.

that’s your choice . But using ai to LEARN something is a good thing and one of its main purposes . I’m also against using AI in bad ways like stealing art styles from actual artists.

I would genuinely encourage you to look more into generative AI and its effects on the environment. Coding is also a skill that takes effort to learn, just like drawing, and it also steals in the same way. It's not good to rely on it for learning anything, either! There is no "good" use of Generative AI. There are many others just like me who will never play a game simply because it goes against our core values, for any of the multitude of reasons generative AI is bad.

When I said I used AI to learn the basics, I meant simple things like how to move a character in a certain way, how to display dialogue, and other basic Ren'Py syntax "I also faced some issues at the beginning that I couldn't find solutions for online, so I had to ask AI for help". That was only at the beginning. After that, I continued developing the rest of the project and fixing errors on my own without anyone/anything else's involvement.

If you don't want to play projects that involved any use of AI whatsoever, even something as minor as that, that's completely your choice, and I respect it.

What I don't appreciate is being portrayed as hypocritical or as someone who "doesn't really care about the environment" because of that. Those are assumptions about me that go beyond what I actually did.

I want to end this discussion here, and I won't be responding to any further replies that reopen the discussion or expand it further.

Thank you.

No need to reply, but I wish to tell you there are tons of communities out there where new and indie devs learn and sometimes collaborate together, just like any other form of art, as well as tons of online videos and tutorials, just like any other form of art.

But you can't use the "Bad-for-the-Environment Machine" to assist making a game with major themes of environmentalism and not expect any pushback on that.

I’m not in a position that allows me to do collaborations with anyone, and learning the basics from AI was the most practical way available to me since my time was limited and I needed to release the game on a certain date.

I hope you understand this, and that this matter ends here.
