Yes I am so glad someone has brought this up. I find ITCH.IO to be a fun place to post and search for other pieces of writing. In fact my favorite short story author happens to be on Itchio so that tells you something.

Originally yeah I never would have considered using Itchio to search for visual novels, interactive fiction, or even straight-up books as in fully text (which have been uploaded to the site, a fact I was not aware of until some time ago). Over time I have come to refer to Itchio as a place for sharing creative works just as much as games and I know other people might not agree with me but I love seeing more books and heavy-story based projects appear on this site.

It can be hard to find good visual novels for example (because the genre is so polluted with generative slop these days) but I try to search under my favorite tags, and see if I can find anything interesting. Key word is interest. I do not have the time to read everything I find. I look for intriguing thumbnails, short titles, and a direct description. I think a game being for free, especially available in browser, allows for easy reading to see if the premise hooks me or not. It usually takes a bit before I find something I like, and you're not going to find anything you will 100% like, but I think every now and then you will read something that makes your day better, or gives you a fun idea to think about when you get done reading. That's what I like to look for at least.

I was also surprised - happily  -  to find that one can find books (epub and pdf) here. I discovered that through social media. At least, there is one benefit to it. So, I ended up buying a book.

When you said "I know other people might not agree with me" have you seen/encountered that here?

I think it is nice to have games and books on the same platform.

I agree with your sentiment regarding books here on Itchio. I know some people who think Itch should be more gameplay and video-game focused. I did not mean to imply there was some sort of stigma against posting books and text-based works on this site. I have never had a negative interaction based on that haha I was just describing that many people wouldn't not even think about posting something like a book on the site.

Ah ok. I probably took too literally what you said. Sorry. Maybe, it will change. Only the future will tell us. Good hunt! ;)
