Oooof, what a well rounded story.
Every scene with Sarah and her parents, that stale and claustrophobic sort of home environment where your every action is nitpicked and commented on, it felt raw and visceral and made me really understand how one could find themselves so enthralled in the escapism of their yaoi pirate fantasy.
I loved Graye's design quite a bit, as well! Nonbinary lesbian representation is genuinely so awesome to see, and I really enjoyed how much their own struggles with identity and accepting themselves mirrored Sarah's irl actions. I also loved a lot of the banter between the two, the part about explaining modern pronouns to a pirate made me laugh so hard upon reading it.
This was also a very visually stunning VN to look at! Lots of really clean formatting choices, and the use of wildly different artstyles between the two leads and their 'settings' was extremely pleasant to see!
Sarah....god, her entire ending just felt like one stab after another. I can't say I don't get where she's coming from, but god it was such a gutwrenching turn of events to witness. Definitely hit me with the reminder that oh yeah, this is a toxic yuri VN after all. Really incredible work all around!
