That is a very interesting idea for a game based on Chess. I'm no good at Chess, so Chess is not my favourite board game by a longshot (everybody always trashes me at it, historically), but I love to see video games reinterpret it.
Stolen Moves has got serious potential, you could make a whole world with NPCs and social commentary out of something like this. Almost like a Chess RPG Mega Man, I'm picturing.
Sadly, I struggled with knowing what each piece I was going after was sometimes. Some of that is certainly my own flaw with concentration issues, but sometimes I've noticed with different versions of Chess that it's hard to tell what some of the Chess pieces are meant to be just by looking at them. I'm no Chess grandmaster, and unfortunately I did wonder sometimes what was a bishop and what wasn't. The pawns were easy because they were small and always moving one space at a time.
